Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, composed of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits include 4 RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPS12 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is part of the 40S subunit and belongs to the S12E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Increased expression has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to normal colonic mucosa. Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
