Human Rad18 (hRad18)은 S. pombe Rad18의 상동체입니다.
Rad6과 Rad18은 손상된 DNA 복제 시 딸가닥의 간극을 메우는 복제 후 수선(post-replication repair) 기능에 중요한 역할을 합니다.
Rad6-Rad18 복합체는 손상 부위에 결합하여 DNA 복제의 정체된 구성 요소를 유비퀴틴 결합 효소 활성으로 분해합니다.
Human Rad18은 염색체 3p24–25에 위치하며, 폐암, 유방암, 난소암, 고환암 등에서 결실이 자주 관찰됩니다.
RAD18 유전자는 495개의 아미노산으로 구성된 약 56 kDa 단백질을 암호화하며, 다양한 인체 조직에서 발현됩니다.
