Target Information
The FBXL5 gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid motif, the F-box. These proteins form part of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, functioning in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are divided into three classes:
- Fbws: containing WD-40 domains
- Fbls: containing leucine-rich repeats
- Fbxs: containing other interaction modules or no recognizable motifs
FBXL5 belongs to the Fbls class and includes several tandem leucine-rich repeats. Alternative splicing generates two transcript variants.
