IL2RG is an important signaling component of multiple interleukin receptors, including IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, and IL-21, and is referred to as the common gamma chain.
Mutations in this gene cause X-linked severe combined immunodeficiency (XSCID) and X-linked combined immunodeficiency (XCID), a less severe immunodeficiency disorder.
