MA5-15805 targets ACTA2 in indirect ELISA, FACS, IF, and WB applications and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, Non-human primate, and Rat samples.
The immunogen is a purified recombinant fragment of human ACTA2 expressed in E. coli.
MA5-15805 detects ACTA2, which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately 42 kDa.

Target Information

Smooth Muscle Actin belongs to the actin family of proteins, which are highly conserved and play essential roles in cell motility, structure, and integrity.
Alpha, beta, and gamma actin isoforms have been identified:

• Alpha actin is a major component of the contractile apparatus.
• Beta and gamma actins regulate cell motility.

Smooth muscle actin is an alpha actin found in skeletal muscle and smooth muscle tissues such as vessel walls, gut wall, myometrium, and myoepithelial cells.
Defects in the smooth muscle actin gene can cause familial thoracic aortic aneurysm type 6.
Alpha-smooth muscle actin is abundant in vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells, and can also appear in fibroblastic stress fibers during wound healing or fibrocontractive conditions.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants of smooth muscle actin have been identified.
