Target Information

MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascades, controlling cell growth and differentiation.
Activated by growth factors, cytokines, membrane depolarization, and calcium influx.
Phosphorylation at serine 218 and 222 by Raf1 activates MEK1.
Involved in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation.
Mutations may lead to cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
