Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases, which act as negative regulators of cell stress response pathways. PPM1G is responsible for dephosphorylating pre-mRNA splicing factors, a key step in forming the functional spliceosome. Studies in mice suggest a role in regulating cell cycle progression. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been described.
