Target Information
The LEF1 gene encodes a transcription factor belonging to the high mobility group protein family. It binds to a functional site in the T-cell receptor-alpha enhancer, contributing to maximal enhancer activity. This transcription factor participates in the Wnt signaling pathway and may play roles in hair cell differentiation and follicle morphogenesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with sebaceous tumors and other cancers, including androgen-independent prostate cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
