Target Information
MARCKS is a substrate for protein kinase C and localizes to the plasma membrane as an actin filament crosslinking protein. Phosphorylation by protein kinase C or binding to calcium-calmodulin inhibits its association with actin and the plasma membrane, resulting in cytoplasmic localization. It is implicated in cell motility, phagocytosis, membrane trafficking, and mitogenesis.
