Target Information
cAMP is a signaling molecule involved in numerous cellular processes. It activates cAMP-dependent protein kinase (AMPK), which phosphorylates target proteins to propagate signaling.
Inactive AMPK exists as a tetramer (two regulatory and two catalytic subunits). Upon cAMP binding, it dissociates into regulatory dimers and free catalytic subunits.
PRKACB, a catalytic subunit of AMPK, belongs to the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and plays a critical role in cAMP-mediated signaling.
