Target Information
CACNA2D4 is part of the alpha-2/delta subunit family within the voltage-dependent calcium channel complex. These channels mediate calcium ion influx upon membrane polarization and consist of alpha-1, alpha-2/delta, beta, and gamma subunits in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. Various isoforms exist due to gene variation and alternative splicing. Studies in rabbit indicate cleavage into alpha-2 and delta subunits. Alternative splice variants have been observed but not fully characterized.
