Target Information
Voltage-dependent calcium channels are essential for neurotransmitter release. L-type (long-lasting current) voltage-dependent calcium channels consist of four subunits: alpha1, beta, gamma, and alpha2 delta. The beta subunit is encoded by four genes (beta1–beta4), contributing to calcium current diversity and membrane trafficking of the alpha1 subunit.
L-type Ca²⁺ channel gamma1 (also known as CACNLG or CACNG1) is a 222 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein of the PMP-22/EMP/MP20 family. It is expressed in skeletal muscle and acts as a subunit of the dihydropyridine (DHP)-sensitive calcium channel, potentially involved in excitation–contraction coupling. CACNG1 is also considered a marker for malignant hyperthermia susceptibility (MHS), an autosomal dominant skeletal muscle disorder that can trigger hypermetabolic crises under certain anesthetics.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
