이 항체는 사람, 랫드 및 마우스 뇌 추출물의 Western blot에서 Ser80에 인산화된 약 75 kDa MeCP2 단백질의 내인성 수준을 특이적으로 인식합니다. 또한 마우스 뇌 절편의 면역조직화학에도 성공적으로 사용되었습니다.
Target Information
MECP2는 메틸-CpG 결합 도메인(MBD)을 가진 핵 단백질 계열(MBD1, MBD2, MBD3, MBD4 포함)에 속합니다. MECP2는 메틸화된 DNA에 특이적으로 결합할 수 있으며, 메틸화된 유전자 프로모터의 전사를 억제할 수 있습니다. 다른 MBD 계열 단백질과 달리 MECP2는 X 염색체에 위치하며 X 비활성화의 영향을 받습니다. 줄기세포에서는 불필요하지만, 배아 발달에는 필수적입니다. MECP2 유전자 돌연변이는 진행성 신경 발달 장애인 Rett 증후군의 주요 원인으로 알려져 있습니다.
