Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in humans. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein expressed in all human cell types and plays a crucial role in cell motility, structure, and integrity.
The beta isoform, along with gamma actin, coexists in most cell types as components of the cytoskeleton. Beta actins are cytoplasmic proteins ubiquitously expressed in all eukaryotic cells. Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin), creating a two-stranded helical structure.
Due to its ubiquitous expression, beta actin is frequently used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies to beta-actin are valuable tools for studying intracellular distribution and the dynamic aspects of the cytoskeleton.
