Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of about 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The androgen receptor (AR) is a member of the steroid-hormone receptor superfamily of nuclear receptors. This receptor (~90 kDa) contains three major functional domains: the N-terminal domain, DNA-binding domain, and androgen-binding domain.
AR acts as a ligand-activated transcription factor that binds testosterone (T) and dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Upon ligand binding, AR dissociates from accessory proteins, translocates to the nucleus, dimerizes, and activates transcription of androgen-responsive genes.

AR signaling is essential for the development and function of male reproductive organs (prostate, epididymis) and also influences nonreproductive tissues (muscle, hair follicles, brain).
It is a phosphoprotein that regulates MAP kinase pathways, and MEK1/2 inhibition affects AR phosphorylation.
Abnormal AR signaling is associated with diseases such as prostate cancer, Kennedy’s disease, male infertility, and complete androgen insensitivity syndrome (CAIS).
