Specificity: Recognizes rat CD28 and can trigger T-cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo.

Target Information

CD28 antigen is a 44 kDa disulfide-linked homodimeric T cell-specific surface glycoprotein.
It is a cell adhesion molecule of the immunoglobulin superfamily, constitutively expressed on most peripheral blood T lymphocytes.
CD28 acts as a critical T cell costimulatory receptor, providing the second activation signal by binding CD80 and CD86 expressed by antigen-presenting cells.
It prevents T cells from entering an anergic or apoptotic state and plays a key role in T cell activation.
In murine peripheral lymphoid organs, all CD4+ and CD8+ T cells express CD28, with expression levels varying across thymocyte maturation stages.
Diseases associated with CD28 dysfunction include mycosis fungoides and Sezary’s disease.
