Target Information
Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 6 (PRMT6) exhibits type I PRMT activity, forming omega-N monomethylarginine and asymmetric dimethylarginine derivatives on glycine- and arginine-rich substrates.
Acts as a transcriptional coactivator of steroid hormone receptors (ESR1, ESR2, PGR, NR3C1).
Promotes fasting-induced transcriptional activation of the gluconeogenic program via methylation of the CRTC2 transcription coactivator.
May contribute to innate immunity against HIV-1 by methylating and impairing the function of viral proteins such as Tat, Rev, and Nucleocapsid protein p7.
