TRPM2는 나트륨, 칼륨, 칼슘 이온 채널을 포함하는 이온 수송 단백질 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 단백질군은 6개의 막관통 나선 구조를 가지며, 마지막 두 나선 사이의 루프가 이온 선택성을 결정합니다. TRPM2는 산화 스트레스에 의해 활성화되어 세포 사멸에 대한 감수성을 증가시키며, 자유 ADP-ribose에 의해 조절되는 칼슘 투과성 양이온 채널입니다. 여러 가지 대체 스플라이싱 전사 변이가 보고되었으나, 그 전체 길이는 아직 알려져 있지 않습니다.
