Target Information
STRAP is a 350 amino acid MAP activator with WD-40 repeats localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus. It inhibits TGF-beta signaling and regulates cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP activates MAPK/ERK pathway and downregulates p21 (Cip1), leading to retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation may contribute to early colorectal cancer development. STRAP is also involved in U snRNP assembly through association with the SMN complex, critical for intracellular SMN1 distribution.
