Target Information

TRPA1 is a TRP-related ion channel that responds to cold temperatures and pungent compounds, playing a role in nociceptor and hair cell transduction. It is associated with transformation in lung epithelia and mainly expressed in sensory neurons. Blocking TRPA1 may provide a therapeutic approach for cold hyperalgesia due to inflammation or nerve injury. TRPA1 is also expressed outside the CNS and is dysregulated during oncogenic transformation. Structurally, it is related to ankyrin and transmembrane proteins, potentially involved in signal transduction and growth control.
