This fluorescein-conjugated, affinity-purified antibody targets human MEK1 protein. Cross-reactivity is expected with human, mouse, and rat based on sequence identity of the peptide immunogen. This antibody does not react with the MEK2 isoform.
Target Information
MAP2K1 (MEK1) kinase is a dual-specificity protein kinase functioning in MAPK cascades, controlling cell growth and differentiation. It is activated by growth factors, cytokines, membrane depolarization, and calcium influx. MEK1 activation occurs via phosphorylation at serine 218 and 222 by Raf1. It plays roles in stress response, apoptosis, and cytokine-induced proliferation. Mutations in MAP2K1 can lead to cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
