Product Specific Information

The OKT3 monoclonal antibody reacts with an epitope on the epsilon-subunit within the human CD3 complex. This antibody has potent immunosuppressive properties and is effective in treating renal, heart, and liver allograft rejection.
CD3 subunits (gamma, delta, epsilon) are essential for assembly, trafficking, and surface expression of the TCR complex. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes and all mature T cells. Crosslinking of TCR triggers intracellular signaling leading to activation and proliferation.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested with normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.125 µg)/test.
Light Sensitivity: Protect from light due to photo-induced oxidation.
Fixation: Samples can be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (Product #00-8222-49) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (Product #00-5333-54) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information

The CD3 complex transduces antigen-recognition signals into T cells and regulates TCR surface expression. It consists of CD3 gamma, delta, epsilon, and zeta subunits, encoded by genes on human chromosome 11.
CD3 is expressed on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and 65–85% of thymocytes, but not on B or NK cells.
Defects in CD3 genes can lead to CD3 immunodeficiency.
