Target Information
The MAGED1 gene belongs to the melanoma antigen gene (MAGE) family. Most genes in this family encode tumor-specific antigens not expressed in normal adult tissues except testis. Although MAGED1 shares strong homology with other MAGE family members, it is expressed in almost all normal adult tissues. This gene is involved in the p75 neurotrophin receptor-mediated programmed cell death pathway. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been identified.
