Product Specific Information

Description:
The RM4-5 monoclonal antibody reacts with the mouse CD4 molecule, a 55 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by a majority of thymocytes, subpopulations of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. CD4 binds to MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells and is essential for T cell development and function. Binding of RM4-5 is blocked by GK1.5.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended use ≤ 0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Optimize empirically for best performance.

Target Information

CD4 antigen is a co-receptor for MHC class II recognition and HIV binding. It is expressed on T helper cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4 facilitates T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and tyrosine kinase Lck. Expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, spleen, and other tissues. CD4 may also mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts are known.
