Target Information
Cell growth and viability are compromised by oxygen deprivation (hypoxia).
Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs), including HIF-1α, HIF-1β (Arnt 1), EPAS-1 (HIF-2α), and HIF-3α, regulate glycolysis, erythropoiesis, and angiogenesis to restore oxygen homeostasis.
These factors belong to the Per-Arnt-Sim (PAS) domain transcription factor family.
Under hypoxia, HIF-1α is upregulated and forms a heterodimer with Arnt 1 to create the HIF-1 complex, which binds to hypoxia-responsive elements (HREs) in target genes to activate transcription.
