ATP 의존성 DNA 헬리케이스 활성을 가지며 RAD3/XPD 헬리케이스 하위 패밀리에 속합니다. 이 유전자의 결함은 xeroderma pigmentosum complementation group D, trichothiodystrophy, Cockayne syndrome 등의 질환을 유발할 수 있습니다. 다양한 전사체 변이체가 보고되어 있으며, 서로 다른 아이소폼을 암호화합니다.
