ADCYAP1 (Adenylate Cyclase Activating Polypeptide 1)
This polypeptide acts via specific receptors to stimulate adenylate cyclase, increasing intracellular cAMP levels. It functions as a hypophysiotropic hormone, neurotransmitter, and neuromodulator, and plays roles in paracrine and autocrine regulation of various cell types. The gene encodes three mature peptides, including two isotypes (short and long forms).
