This antibody has specificity for Ebola virus EBOV (subtype Sudan, strain Gulu) VP40/Matrix protein VP40.
Target Information
Ebola virus is an enveloped, negative-stranded RNA virus belonging to the family Filoviridae. It has a distinctive morphology similar to Marburg virus but lacks antigenic similarity.
The genome is a nonsegmented RNA strand, and SDS-PAGE profiles show seven structural proteins:
- NP (104 K)
- GP (125 K)
- L protein (180 K)
- VP40 (40 K)
- ViPX (35 K)
- VP30 (30 K)
- VP24 (24 K)
All proteins are encoded by monocistronic mRNA transcripts complementary to virion RNA. GP is the major surface spike protein and the only glycosylated viral protein.
