Target Information
CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and has two Ig-like domains. The CD19 molecule is expressed on nearly all peripheral B cells defined by kappa or lambda light chain expression. It may also appear on certain myeloid leukemia cells, especially of monocytic lineage.
CD19 serves as a key regulator of B cell proliferation, differentiation, and signaling. It functions as a co-receptor with the B cell receptor (BCR) to lower the activation threshold for antigen stimulation. CD19 mutations can cause hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity.
