Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (recommended: Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or nutrient deprivation. p53 regulates transcription of genes such as p21waf1, leading to G1 or G2/M arrest. Structurally, p53 includes:

  • N-terminal transactivation domain
  • Central DNA-binding domain
  • Oligomerisation domain
  • C-terminal regulatory domain

Phosphorylation at Ser15 is critical for activation and stabilization, while phosphorylation at Ser392 is associated with tumor formation. p53 helps prevent proliferation of damaged cells and functions as an anticancer agent. It also relates to aging, oxidative stress, and memory processes. Mutations in the TP53 gene are common in human cancers and can lead to loss of tumor suppressor activity, as seen in Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
