Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Eight distinct classes of soluble cytoplasmic mammalian glutathione S-transferases have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta, and zeta.
GSTM2 belongs to the mu class, which functions in detoxification of electrophilic compounds—including carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins, and oxidative stress products—by conjugation with glutathione.
Cytosolic and membrane-bound forms of glutathione S-transferase are encoded by two distinct supergene families. The mu class enzymes are encoded in a gene cluster on chromosome 1p13.3 and are highly polymorphic, influencing individual susceptibility to toxins and drug responses.
