Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are a family of enzymes involved in detoxification processes. Eight distinct classes of soluble cytoplasmic mammalian GSTs have been identified: alpha, kappa, mu, omega, pi, sigma, theta, and zeta.
GSTM2 belongs to the mu class, which functions in detoxifying electrophilic compounds such as carcinogens, therapeutic drugs, environmental toxins, and oxidative stress products by conjugation with glutathione.
The genes encoding the mu class of enzymes are located on chromosome 1p13.3 and are highly polymorphic. These genetic variations can influence susceptibility to carcinogens and toxins, as well as affect drug toxicity and efficacy.
