Target Information
Amphiphysins are members of the BAR (Bin-Amphiphysin-Rvsp) protein superfamily, playing a crucial role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis of synaptic vesicles.
They have a conserved N-terminal BAR domain and a C-terminal SH3 domain. Two isoforms form a heterodimer and interact with dynamin, synaptojanin, and clathrin, participating in synaptic vesicle recycling at nerve terminals.
Amphiphysins are also identified as dominant autoantigens in paraneoplastic Stiff-Man Syndrome.
