Target Information
BCAS1 was identified through positional cloning and found to be overexpressed in most, but not all, breast cancer cell lines. BCAS1 is cytoplasmically localized and thought to form homodimers through coiled-coil structures. High expression of BCAS1 mRNA is observed in brain and prostate tissues, with lower levels in colon, intestine, and testis. Overexpression studies suggest BCAS1 is not a typical oncogene but may play a role in cell proliferation control.
