Target Information
NASP encodes a H1 histone binding protein involved in transporting histones into the nucleus of dividing cells. Multiple isoforms are encoded by transcript variants of this gene.
- Somatic form: Expressed in all mitotic cells, localized to the nucleus, and coupled to the cell cycle.
- Testicular form: Expressed in embryonic tissues, tumor cells, and testis. In male germ cells, localized to the cytoplasm of primary spermatocytes, nucleus of spermatids, and periacrosomal region of mature spermatozoa.
