Product Specific Information

The SJ25C1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD19, a 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on B cells throughout development except plasma cells. It is also expressed on follicular dendritic cells. CD19 forms a multimolecular complex with CD21, CD81, Leu13, and MHC class II, which associates with the BCR complex. Signaling through CD19 induces tyrosine phosphorylation, calcium flux, and B cell proliferation.

Target Information

CD19 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily with two Ig-like domains. It is expressed on 100% of peripheral B cells and some myeloid leukemia cells. CD19 acts as a regulator of B cell activation and proliferation, lowering the threshold for antigen receptor-dependent stimulation. Mutations can cause hypogammaglobulinemia, while overexpression leads to B cell hyperactivity.
