1 µg/mL of MA5-27703 was sufficient for detection of alpha1 GABA receptor in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 55 kDa. No cross-reactivity against GABA-A-R-Alpha2 or -Alpha3.
Target Information
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl⁻ channel associated with the GABAA Receptor (GABAA-R) subtype.
GABAA-Rs are important therapeutic targets for sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic agents and are implicated in diseases such as epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.
The GABAA-R is a multimeric subunit complex consisting of multiple alpha, beta, and gamma subunits, with alternative splicing variants. Coexpression of a gamma-subunit is required for benzodiazepine modulation. Phosphorylation of beta-subunits modulates receptor function.
