Target Information
TYW2 (also known as TRM12) is an enzyme involved in the wybutosine-tRNA (Phe) biosynthesis pathway. Wybutosine (yW) is a hypermodified guanosine at the 3′ position adjacent to the anticodon of phenylalanine tRNA, stabilizing codon-anticodon interactions during ribosomal decoding.
TYW2 participates in a multistep enzymatic process that ensures accurate translation by stabilizing codon-anticodon base-pairing.
It has been reported that TYW2 is amplified in most breast cancer cell lines analyzed, and overexpressed in a majority of breast tumor samples, suggesting a potential role in breast cancer progression.
