Product Specific Information

This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to prevent contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • High specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broad immunoreactivity due to rabbit immune repertoire

This antibody specifically recognizes Human CD2.

Target Information

CD2 (LFA-2) is a monomeric surface antigen (MW 45–58 kDa) expressed on human T-lymphocytes and some natural killer cells, but not on B lymphocytes. It is one of the earliest T-cell markers, found on over 95% of thymocytes.

Monoclonal antibodies against CD2 inhibit rosette formation with sheep erythrocytes, indicating CD2’s role as the erythrocyte receptor or its close association with it.

The interaction between CD2 and CD58 stabilizes adhesion between T cells and antigen-presenting cells. Although CD2–CD58 binding affinity is low in solution, it is strengthened at the cell interface, enabling firm adhesion. Upon T cell activation, CD2 expression and lateral mobility increase, facilitating contact with CD58. This process enhances intercellular adhesion and immune response regulation.

CD2 deficiency has been linked to reduced intestinal inflammation and improved infection control. Abnormal CD2 function is associated with conditions such as penile squamous cell carcinoma and immune deficiency due to thymic absence.
