Target Information
The protein encoded by SC35 is a member of the serine/arginine (SR)-rich family of pre-mRNA splicing factors, which constitute part of the spliceosome. Each factor contains an RNA recognition motif (RRM) for RNA binding and an RS domain for protein interactions.
The RS domain, rich in serine and arginine residues, facilitates interaction between different SR splicing factors.
SR proteins are involved in mRNA splicing, nuclear export, and translation.
Two transcript variants encoding the same protein and one non-coding variant have been found for SC35. A pseudogene of SC35 exists on chromosome 11.
