This antibody detects a 68 kDa protein in human A431 and Jurkat cells and does not cross-react with SHP2.

Target Information

SHP-1 (PTPN6) is a non-receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase expressed primarily in hematopoietic cells. It consists of two SH2 domains, a tyrosine phosphatase catalytic domain, and a C-terminal regulatory domain. SHP-1 removes phosphates from target proteins to downregulate tyrosine kinase-regulated pathways.
In hematopoietic cells, the N-terminal SH2 domain binds to tyrosine-phosphorylated erythropoietin receptors (EpoR), negatively regulating hematopoietic growth.
Overexpression of SHP-1 in epithelial cells dephosphorylates the Ros receptor tyrosine kinase, reducing Ros-dependent cell proliferation and transformation.
In myeloid cells, SHP-1 associates with the IL-3R beta chain following ligand binding, downregulating IL-3-induced tyrosine phosphorylation and cell proliferation.
