Target Information
The CDC6 protein is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6, which is essential for the initiation of DNA replication. It functions as a regulator in the early steps of DNA replication and localizes in the nucleus during G1 phase, translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase. This translocation is regulated by phosphorylation via Cdks. Transcription of CDC6 is controlled by mitogenic signals through E2F-mediated transcriptional mechanisms.
