Target Information
The CDC6 protein is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6, essential for initiating DNA replication. It acts as a regulator during early steps of replication, localizing to the nucleus in G1 phase and translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase. This translocation is regulated by phosphorylation via Cdks. Transcription of CDC6 responds to mitogenic signals through E2F-mediated transcriptional control.
