Rab 단백질은 Ras 초패밀리의 GTP 결합 단백질 중 가장 큰 분류군으로, 세포 내 소기관과 소포의 세포질 면에 위치하여 막 융합 반응에 관여합니다.
SNAP-25, synaptobrevin, syntaxin으로 구성된 막 융합 복합체는 NSF 및 α-SNAP과 상호작용하며, Rab 단백질은 Munc-18과 함께 소포 도킹 및 융합을 매개합니다.
포유류에서 40종 이상의 Rab 단백질이 보고되었으며, Rab3D는 혀, 췌장, 간 등에서 발현되는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
