Product Specific Information
- For IHC (PFA-fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes before staining.
Target Information
The enzyme encoded by the TYR gene catalyzes the initial steps in the conversion of tyrosine to melanin. It exhibits both tyrosine hydroxylase and dopa oxidase activities and requires copper for its function. Mutations in TYR cause oculocutaneous albinism, while polymorphisms contribute to normal skin pigmentation variation. The human genome also contains a TYR pseudogene corresponding to the 3′ half of this gene.
