Target Information
ARHGAP20 is a potent GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that converts Rho-type GTPases into an inactive GDP-bound state. It contains pleckstrin homology (PH), Ras-associating, Rho-GAP domains, and two Annexin-like (ANXL) repeats.
ARHGAP20 acts downstream of Rap1 in neurite outgrowth, where its overexpression leads to Rho inactivation, promoting neurite extension in a Rap1-dependent manner.
It functions as a tumor suppressor gene, inactivated by deletion in breast cancer and by chromosomal translocation in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
ARHGAP20 may participate in cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell signaling during spermatogenesis.
Expression is predominant in human brain, liver, ovary, and spinal cord, with lower levels in lymph nodes and fetal liver.
