Target Information
CD122 (Interleukin 2 receptor) is involved in T cell-mediated immune responses, primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system and exists in three forms:
- Low affinity form: Monomer of alpha subunit, not involved in signal transduction
- Intermediate affinity form: Alpha/beta heterodimer
- High affinity form: Alpha/beta/gamma heterotrimer
Both intermediate and high affinity forms participate in receptor-mediated endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction.
The protein encoded by the CD122 gene represents the beta subunit and is a type I membrane protein.
Diseases associated with CD122 dysfunction include oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
