Product Specific Information

The HI149 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD1a, a 49 kDa protein expressed by cortical thymocytes and dendritic cells including Langerhans cells. CD1 family proteins share structural and functional similarities with MHC class I molecules but are non-polymorphic. CD1a associates with beta2-microglobulin and plays a role in antigen presentation.

Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on MOLT-4 cells at 5 µL (0.5 µg)/test.
A test is defined as the antibody amount to stain a sample in 100 µL final volume. Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Fluorochrome Information:
eFluor® 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue®, excited at 405 nm and emits at 445 nm. Ensure the instrument can detect this fluorochrome.

Target Information

CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related glycoprotein expressed with Beta-2 microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, certain T-cell leukemias, and other tissues. CD1 proteins present lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome includes five CD1 family genes (CD1a–e) on chromosome 1. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternative splicing variants exist, but biological significance is undetermined.
