Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family. It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism. Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency elevates HDL levels in animals. LIPG exhibits phospholipase activity and plays roles in lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology. It belongs to the TG lipase family and acts as a carboxyl esterase, hydrolyzing HDL, emulsifying triglycerides, and aiding in dietary fat digestion. It can also bind to heparin.
