Target Information
LIPG (Lipase G, Endothelial type) is an endothelial lipase and a member of the lipoprotein lipase gene family.
It is synthesized by endothelial cells and functions locally to modulate lipoprotein metabolism.
Overexpression of LIPG reduces HDL cholesterol levels, while deficiency increases HDL levels in animals.
LIPG exhibits substantial phospholipase activity and plays roles in lipoprotein metabolism and vascular biology.
It is a carboxyl esterase that hydrolyzes HDL, emulsifies triglycerides, and aids in dietary fat digestion.
LIPG also binds to heparin and belongs to the TG lipase family, characterized by a lid region providing substrate specificity.
